ORIGINAL PROJECTS
David Hopkins is an Irish singer/songwriter who has always reminded me of Nick Drake if he had an electric band. My role in that band was to play electric guitar, lap steel, and acoustic guitar. There are lots of clean, textural parts that are meant to fit into an orchestrated whole.
The Embers and Tiny Little Blackouts were both led by songwriter Cameron Ember. My role was somewhat of an angular lead guitarist as she preferred not to have any "standard guitar" sounding riffs (especially in Tiny Little Blackouts). I gravitated towards my Strat and used lots of fuzz, vibrato, and delay.
Sebastian was a songwriting collaboration between myself and Chris Sebastian. The music ranged from rhythmic and aggressive to pretty and textural. I have included one of the raunchier guitar songs.
I played in Penelope Houston's band for several years. We did one tour of Germany with Chuck Prophet on lead guitar and another East Coast tour with a stripped down lineup including Dawn Richardson and Katherine Cole. I have included the mostly electronic track "Subway" from the CD "Scum". Enjoy.
